Presentation Evening

On Friday 5th December the Club held its annual presentation evening.  We also took the opportunity to celebrate our victories in external competitions, including the Short Mat League, Bernard Annand Trophy and Isle of Thanet Jubilee Pairs.

The whole event was very successful as trophies were presented to the winners and runners up in 17 different Club Competitions,  with 31 different members receiving  awards.

Charity Support

Each year our President chooses a charity to collect for during the season. This year the President, Paul Allsworth, chose the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) charity.

At our recent presentation evening the President had great pleasure in presenting Clive Hudson from the East Kent MNDA Association with a cheque for £800.

In 2026 the President has chosen to support MNDA once again and also the local Thanet branch of the RSPCA who are in desperate need of donations to keep the centre open.

AGM 2025

The AGM has now been held and was very well attended.  Key items agreed were

  • some  amendments to the Constitution and the new version can be found  in the Documents page.
  • Committee and other officer appointments and they can be found on Who Are We page
  • to arrange another organised social roll up session every Thursday afternoon in addition to the Monday morning session.
  • to proceed with a new design club shirt and switch to Navy Trousers /Shorts   in 2026
  • that fees will not be increased and will remain at £120 for full membership
  • 3 New Honorary  Life Members agreed- Maggie Lane, Colin Lane and  Ray Butterwick

Reaching Out to the Community

Broadstairs and St Peters Bowls Club in partnership with the Bowls Development Alliance have recently hosted some people who are supported by Mencap to have a try at short mat bowling.  They enjoyed it so much they wanted to come back for a second session!   We will be arranging further sessions for them over the winter months and also hope to develop similar links with other community groups in the area.  Our thanks to one of our members Rob Wilcock for delivering this project so successfully.
